Making sense of the terminology used within FCA

In FCA, there are so many words that we throw around. Just like in any industry there are words or acronyms that we use that can get confusing. We get confused at times and we work for the organization!! This page gives specific definitions to words, phrases, or acronyms that are utilized and may be important for you to understand!
  • Ministry Lingo

    Huddle: a certified small group bible study/devotion for coaches and athletes to encourage each other, pray for one another, and be centered around the Bible


    E3: Engage, Equip, & Empower


    MLA (Ministry Leadership Application): application  for adults who work with youth under the age of 18; tt is the primary means that FCA employs to evaluate potential volunteers 


    3D: Three Dimensional Coaching training that each of our FCA coaches and character coaches get trained in


    The Four: the Gospel explained in four simple truths: God loves you, Sin seperates you, Jesus rescues you, Will you trust Jesus?


    CORE: 8 essentials to strengthen your faith: Join God's team, Live with God's power, Train spiritually, Communicate with God, Study God's playbook, Team up with others, Know your role, Share with others


    SLT (Student Leadership Team): a group of students at each school who are active members of their huddle; they help facilitate the huddle through planning weekly meetings and activities throughout the year


    PRO Team (Parents Reaching Out): a group of parents who support a specific huddle through various volunteer opportunites


    Task Force: a group of volunteers who support an Area Representative who each have their own position in the group; they operate similarly to a Board of Directors but on a small scale

  • Donor Lingo

    Home Team: a team of people that support a specific staff person on a monthly or yearly basis


    AMP (Automatic Monthly Partner): a monthly donation that is set-up online towards a specific staff person; considered a part of the staff person's Home Team


    RFP (Reoccuring Funding Partner): a monthly, quarterly, or yearly donation that is written via a check to a specific staff person; considered a part of the staff person's Home Team


    MPD (Ministry Partner Development): a person who partners with the ministry of FCA through their time, talent, or treasure


    TLA (Tom Landry Associate): a donor who has given annually $10,000 or more or invests $100,000 or more in a lifetime


    SRS (Support Raising Solutions): training that each staff person goes through to help raise donor partners 

  • Staff Lingo

    Prospective Staff: a hired staff member who is the process of getting Phase 1 funded 


    Intern: a staff member who has been hired for a specific amount of time such as a summer or a school year


    Ambassador: a staff member who has been hired and spends between 5-15 hours a week with FCA


    Board of Directors: a team of volunteers who support a director in FCA by taking on a specific role to support the ministry
